Recruitment Goal

+0 / 125 (0%)

Our goal is to gain 125 new Members in Good Standing between October 1st and the end of December!

Organizing Goal

The chapter should have at least one qualifying Recruitment Drive event each week until December 13th. Recruitment Drive events are events which are either designed for member recruitment/retention or existing events which have made adjustments to help serve that goal. More details on this under the 'FAQ' section!

National Leaderboard

Click the link above to see the national DSA recruitment drive leaderboard! This not only shows how our chapter is doing compared to other chapters, it will also show how many people you have personally recruited.

This is also where you get your personal referral link. If you recruit 5 members using your referral link, you'll get a limited edition T-Shirt and if our chapter is one of the top 10 fastest growing chapters we'll win a chapter banner!

Recruitment Drive Volunteer Opportunities

Below are the currently open volunteer opportunities for the Recruitment Drive! Every opening will earn you points.

How and when you will be contacted after applying will depend on the opportunity! If there are too many volunteers you may not be contacted, but don't be discouraged about applying for others!!

FAQ

How do I earn recruitment drive points exactly?

If you are a Member in Good Standing of Sonoma County DSA, you can earn points in three different ways:

  • Bottomlining a qualifying event/action, meaning organizing the logistics of it, earns you 4 points. If two people bottomline an event, the points will be split between them.

  • Volunteering for a qualifying event/action or attending a qualifying training earns you 2 points.

  • Personally recruiting someone earns you 1 point. This must be down outside of a qualifying event/action, such as recruiting a friend or someone you met at a bar. If you recruit someone at an event/action you're already getting points for that!

If someone is bottomlining and volunteering for an event, they will usually earn points for both. For example, if someone is organizing the tabling for a protest and is also behind the table talking to people at the protest, they would earn 6 points!

How do I get my points?

Whoever is bottomlining a qualifying an event/action is responsible for tracking who volunteers for it and then giving that information to the Membership Coordinator who will mark down your points!

If you personally recruit someone, please reach out to the Membership Coordinator and tell them the name of the person you recruited so they can confirm you. You can message them directly on Discord or e-mail them at membership@socodsa.org.

If you attended a national DSA training, please send a screenshot or picture of the Zoom meeting to the Membership Coordinator so they can confirm it. You can message them directly on Discord or e-mail them at membership@socodsa.org.

How does an event qualify?

How an event qualifies depends on the type of event:

  • If an event's primary purpose is the recruitment of new members or retention of existing members, it qualifies. For example, tabling at a community event or a social event.

  • Events whose primary purpose is not recruitment/retention may qualify if they make additions or adjustments to their event to help the event contribute to better recruitment or retention. For example, posting flyers about the event so more non-members know about it, incorporating newsletter sign-ups at the entrance to the event, or making a membership ask during the event.

If you believe your event should qualify for the Recruitment Drive, please reach out to the Membership Coordinator. You can message them directly on Discord or e-mail them at membership@socodsa.org. It is highly encouraged for all Committees to consider how they could make their events qualify!

I have an idea for a Recruitment Drive event I'd like to run, what do I do?

Come tell us about it in the Membership Committee! Any Member in Good Standing can join the Committee. We primarily communicate in the chapter Discord, and you can join the Committee in the #committee-signup channel.

I'm running a qualifying event, how does the volunteer process work?

When an event is determined to have qualified, the Membership Coordinator will ask you how many volunteers you need and in what role. That will then be added to the Volunteer Board on the page above, and the Membership Coordinator will let you know as people volunteer! It is up to you whether you want to accept their volunteer offer.
